SEOUL, South Korea & Newtown Connecticut, USA

SDLab Korea has developed a hygienic fabric treated with SD Pro antimicrobial coating from SD Labs and applied it to Hyundai Motor’s ‘IONIQ’ | SEVEN SUV concept car, which was introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 17, 2021.

Due to then heightened awareness on the impact of viruses, bacteria and molds to public health, the importance of thorough vehicle interior hygiene management is increasing, along with the amount of time spent inside our vehicles. In line with this trend, SEVEN combined various eco-friendly materials and advanced SD Labs antimicrobial technology for a safer, family-oriented driving experience.

The antimicrobial material installed inside the vehicle, called 'Hygienically Treated Fabric' by Hyundai, has been manufactured with antimicrobial coating technology from SDLab Korea, a company specializing in infection control and prevention based on products manufactured by SD Labs.

CEO Kim Chang-Joo of SDLab Korea said, “We are very happy that our advanced antimicrobial coating technology has been applied to the IONIQ concept car SEVEN. We will take the lead in raising the standard of safety with a solution that is absolutely necessary in the era of Covid that we are facing right now.”

SDLab Korea, LLC is working closely with major domestic and foreign business partners in all areas that require infection control, remediation, and management, such as mobility, specialized quarantine, and home care services.

SD Labs is pleased to announce the approval of SD Pro Hospitalar surface treatment by ANVISA (Brasil’s National Health Surveillance Agency) as a continuously self-disinfecting surface treatment. SD Pro Hospitalar is specifically approved for use in hospital and healthcare facilities throughout the country to kill germs and inactivate viruses (including SARS CoV-2) for up to 6 months per application. This unique formulation is designed to stay bound to high contact patient surfaces without easily washing off and creates a safer environment for patients and healthcare workers by proactively and continuously killing important microorganisms found in healthcare facilities.

The registration data from the official Brasilian government record (Diario Oficial Da Uniao – Secao 1 ISSN 1677-7042 No. 183 segunda-feira 27 de setembro de 2021) is as follows:

SD Pro Hospitalar works by physically piercing or disrupting the target microorganisms to quickly kill them without the use of toxic chemicals. SD Hospitalar can kill 99.9% or more microorganisms in 10 minutes or less versus hours for copper, titanium dioxide, and metal-based disinfectants. By rapidly killing MRSA, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E.-coli, Candida albicans, Salmonella cholerasuis, and other important microorganisms as they come in contact with the product’s coating, the risk to facility occupants is minimized, the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting can be reduced, and the money spent on expensive disinfectants can be redirected to more relevant patient care initiatives.

Chemical and UV disinfectant solutions only kill germs while the chemicals are wet, or the UV source is turned on. SD Pro Hospitalar works around the clock for months to kill germs after only one application. Surfaces can be maintained with soap and water or a mild detergent, further reducing the need for toxic chemicals, costly labor resources, and more frequent disinfecting to meet the needs of today’s demanding medical environments in Brasil. SD Pro Hospitalar is ready to use and is applied directly to high contact surfaces including patient tray tables, bed rails, mattresses, beds, electronic equipment, remotes, rest rooms, furnishings, HVAC diffusers and equipment, light switches, door handles, and virtually any other surface in a hospital. SD Pro Hospitalar can be applied to make all surfaces in a typical hospital room antimicrobial (where approved) in less than 5 minutes using the company’s customized equipment.

SD Pro Hospitalar is only available through Global Shield Solutions Brasil Importacao E Comercio LTDA and is not available for sale in, or export to, the USA. Please visit https://gssbrasil.com.br/ to learn how to purchase this product or have it professionally applied by our experts to your healthcare facility in Brasil.

Prevention of COVID-19:Disinfection at CIAW

As part of the actions planned for the resumption of face-to-face activities, and to preserve the health of the students and the crew of the Admiral Wandenkolk Instruction Center (CIAW), on August 5, 2020, the Marine Operations Group of Nuclear, Biological, Chemical and Radiological Defense (GptOpFuzNav-DefNBQR) carried out a preventive disinfection application in multiple CIAW buildings.

SD ST Application in Female Locker Rooms at CAIW

In order to properly clean and disinfect surfaces and equipment, the application was carried out by 23 military personnel trained in NBQR Defense procedures. Areas treated include Female and Male Sleeping Quarters,  Students Common Areas, Dining Halls, and the Training Facility for Officers. In addition to traditional disinfectants,  SD Labs’ SD-ST long-lasting self-disinfecting antimicrobial coatings were used in all areas.  SD ST, which has demonstrated effectiveness in multiple laboratory tests and is approved by Anvisa in Brazil to kill COVID 19, effectively eliminates 99.99% of microorganisms for up to 90 days per application.

SINGAPORE – Another round of self-disinfecting coating will be applied to 26,000 Housing Board lifts, starting from the end of the month. The first round of the coating, known as SD ST, was applied in April amid the coronavirus outbreak, and it is able to last for three months, killing bacteria, viruses and fungi upon contact. Follow-up tests that were conducted showed a low microbial count on the lift buttons after the coating was applied. The second round of coating will be applied to all 26,000 lifts across HDB estates under the 16 town councils within a month, said the Holland-Bukit Panjang Town Council on Monday (June 15).

Temasek Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Singapore state investment firm Temasek, said that it donated 652 litres of SD ST to support the town councils’ second round of self-disinfecting coating for all HDB lifts. It added that both adenosine triphosphate and microbial swab tests have been conducted for various HDB lifts across the island over the last two months, and the test results showed low microbial count for the lift buttons after the coating was applied. But Temasek Foundation said that the coating’s efficacy “is still subject to a regular cleaning regime and care of the coating”. It will be embarking on a second round of testing after the disinfection coating has been applied, to continue testing for the coating’s efficacy.

Dr Teo Ho Pin, the town council’s chairman and coordinating chairman of the 15 People’s Action Party town councils, said: “During this unprecedented period, we are touched by the many organisations that extend their kindness and generosity to the community.

Coronavirus: Long-lasting disinfectant and 1,000 more hand sanitisers among measures introduced at Changi Airport

“I wish to thank Temasek Foundation for their contributions in making our built environment a safer place.”

Holland-Bukit Panjang Town Council also thanked residents who helped to sustain the effectiveness of the coating through good personal hygiene and proper lift use. Dr Teo had earlier warned lift users to avoid pressing lift buttons with hard objects, such as keys, as this could scrape the coating off. He added that lift users “should not be complacent and must exercise stringent personal hygiene” and ensure that they continue to wash their hands frequently.

The first round of coating was applied to all 1.5 million lift buttons in 26,000 HDB lifts, as a large proportion of Singapore’s population – around 3.2 million people – live in HDB flats, and the lift buttons are one of the most frequently touched components. The coating was applied following a donation of 650 litres of sdst by Changi Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Changi Airport Group.

The Aljunied-Hougang Town Council said that it has applied the coating to all HDB lift buttons in their town, and it has scheduled to reapply the next coating from early next month.

Frequently touched surfaces in Changi Airport, such as lift buttons, touch screens and trolley handles were applied with the coating since February. Similar anti-microbial coatings have also been applied on the buttons of ATMs.

The National Environment Agency said in an earlier statement in May that it had requested but not yet received “robust scientific evidence” on the effectiveness of such coatings against coronaviruses from the suppliers of such products.

Residents in Housing Board flats who have been using their keys or other objects to prod lift buttons during the coronavirus outbreak can now set their minds at ease, as a self-disinfecting coating that lasts for three months has been applied to buttons in all HDB lifts as well as lift lobbies in Singapore.

The coating, called sdst, kills bacteria, viruses and fungi upon contact and remains in place even with repeated scrubbing and cleaning, as chemical bonding agents help it to adhere tightly to surfaces at a molecular level. It is sprayed on surfaces in liquid form like regular disinfectants and is safe on human skin.

Teams from Singapore’s 16 town councils applied the coating in lifts over the past two weeks following a donation of 650 litres of sdst by the Changi Airport Group’s (CAG) philanthropic arm Changi Foundation. This amount was found to be sufficient to coat all 1.5 million lift buttons in Singapore’s 26,000 HDB lifts.

Dr Teo Ho Pin, coordinating chairman of the 15 People’s Action Party town councils, noted on Thursday (April 2) that a large proportion of Singapore’s population – around 3.2 million – lives in HDB flats, and that lift buttons are one of the most frequently touched components in housing estates. Asked if there are plans to roll out the coating to other public areas, Dr Teo said: “We know that residents have been very concerned and we are focusing on high-risk surfaces such as lift buttons for a start. So let’s see how effective this solution is.”

Now that the coating is in place, he added, residents should avoid continuing to press lift buttons with hard objects like keys, as this could scrape the coating off. Sdst is manufactured in the United States. CAG has been using the coating for frequently touched surfaces in Changi Airport such as lift buttons, touch screens and trolley handles since February.

“One of the challenges that our cleaning partners and staff face is that you can step up training and increase the frequency (of cleaning), but there’s always an exposure time between cleaning when someone can come in and contaminate the surface,” said CAG airport operations management managing director Jayson Goh.

“So the good thing about this coating is that it creates a protective shield over the surface, and this was something that we wanted to extend nationwide with the help of the town councils.”

Airlines in and outside the country have joined forces in a worldwide effort to fight the COVID-19 outbreak and minimize damage or inconvenience to passengers amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic crisis, airline industry officials said Friday

Singapore Airlines has recently introduced a new type of antimicrobial coating service to the SilverKris Lounge at Incheon International Airport as part of its long-term quarantine plan for COVID-19 infection control. The measure was carried out in conjunction with SDLab Korea, a company specializing in next-generation anti-bacterial systems.

The SD999 Antimicrobial Coating is based on SDLab Korea’s spike defender solution technology, which provides effective anti-bacterial effects for three to six months per antimicrobial coating.

The quarantine technology has been approved for safety by the Korean Ministry of Environment and has already been used at Singapore’s Changi Airport terminals since February. Singapore Airlines has ensured that the protective antimicrobial coating is present in the entire lounge, including the reception, cafe, bars, main hall, toilets, shower rooms and kitchen, to guarantee safer use of the lounge for its customers.

“Singapore Airlines considers the health and safety of our customers its top priority and is implementing various preventive measures on board and on the ground to ensure a safe journey,” Xavier Ho, general manager at Singapore Airlines Korea, said. “We will continue to maintain a high-quality COVID-19 infection control and quarantine system to provide customers with a safe and pleasant customer experience.”
